The garnet abrasive is granular, with shell shaped or uneven fracture, moderate hardness, good toughness, sharp edges and corners, and good self sharpness. It can be continuously crushed and graded to form edges and edges, making its grinding ability superior to other abrasives. After forging at high temperature, the toughness of garnet is increased and the grinding effect is good. Especially in wood grinding, its durability is higher than that of alumina grinding materials. In the resin grinding tools, due to the low sales price of the garnet industry, garnet can be used as a filler to replace 20% - 30% of brown corundum, with ideal results. Because there is no free silica, garnet is also an ideal environmental sandblasting material. Garnet can also be made into a fixed grinding wheel for grinding lenses and main resin grinding tools. Garnet is used as cutting medium, and high-pressure hydraulic jet is used for cutting. It can be used for oil knife cutting. It can not only be used for natural gas, but also change the microstructure of pipes and steel. The wear resistance can be increased by 45%.


The working interface pressure between the grinding wheel and the working object is as high as tens of MPa, and the temperature exceeds 1000 ℃. Imagine that under this strict completion condition, if there is material decomposition or chemical reaction with other substances, and this decomposition and reaction process is just endothermic, it can not only prevent the workpiece from burning, but also protect the adhesive of the grinding wheel from damage under high temperature. In fact, this is difficult to do, and inorganic polymer adhesives do not consider these issues. Later it was found that cryolite, a kind of sodium fluoaluminate, whose main component can greatly improve the grinding efficiency after being added, was rapidly promoted in resin grinding wheels. It should be pointed out that cryolite is still one of the main active fillers today.
